Thanks to ICU's Japanese class, I worked hard and became able to study kanji more quickly. However, the teaching style is still rather different from American schools. One possible downside is that there are very few class discussions. Additionally, not all members of the class really worked very hard on their Japanese, making it difficult to improve together as a class.
Mitaka is a quite little neighborhood of Tokyo with plenty of shops to shop at and small citizens groups in which you can participate. Also, it isn't very far from the heart of Tokyo, it only takes about 40 minutes by bus or train to visit popular destinations like Shinjuku or Kichijoji.
ICU has Japan's best Japanese language school. You will learn characteristics of Japanese culture not only from ICU's neighborhood Mitaka-shi, but also from the classes themselves.
